ENGLEWOOD – Cathie Ruppi has been named as Director of Music at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church, Harrington Park, for the congregation, effective Sept. 1. She is a resident of the city.
Ms. Ruppi has had an extensive career as organist and choir director with both adults and children in churches throughout the county. She received her musical training at The College of New Jersey in Trenton, with a degree in music education majoring in organ. Her advanced studies include course work at the Manhattan School of Music in New York City and the Westminster Choir College in Princeton. In addition, she is a member of the faculty of the city’s First Presbyterian Church Pre-School and Kindergarten, where she has been on staff for 15 years. She is also the piano accompanist for the Freshman Cabaret of the Academy for Visual and Performing Arts at the Bergen Academies in Hackensack. At her private music studio in the city, she teaches piano to students ranging in age from 5 years to senior citizens.
“Cathie’s appointment is an exciting addition to St. Andrew’s already extensive music program for the congregation and the greater Harrington Park community,” said the Rev. Diane Rhodes, priest at St. Andrew’s. “Her experience in leading choral music, as well as her expertise in music training for both children and adults will enable St. Andrew’s to continue and grow its tradition of liturgical music and concerts in Harrington Park. We are delighted to welcome her.”
The Adult Choir sings at Sunday worship at 10:15 a.m. The choir rehearses on Thursday evenings and Sunday mornings. St. Andrew’s Church is located at 31 Lynn St. For information about the parish, or the choir, call the church at 201-768-0819.
