A group of 67 Bergen Catholic High School students on Monday, Nov. 22, participated in the school’s third annual “Cardboard City” event. The students constructed temporary “homes” out of cardboard boxes and slept in them in order to experience the problems that homeless people face on a daily basis.

Powered by its trio of 12th-graders, Jaclyn Del Cid, Taylor Woegens and Stephanie Sura, the volley-girls contingent from Bogota High reaped its second State Group 1 championship in four years by moving past Madison, 25-15, 25-12, on Saturday, Nov. 13, at William Paterson University in Wayne. The 1985 Bergen Catholic High School soccer team was recently honored at halftime of the Bergen Catholic-Iona Prep soccer game. The 1985 Crusaders concluded their season with an 18-3-2 record and won Bergen County and State championships. The honorees, join with BCHS President Br. Brian M. Walsh, (center), included (from left) Tenafly resident John Barrett, Class of 1964, currently the owner/manager of the Barrett Funeral Home in Tenafly, Brian, Class of 1974, and Maureen Gallagher, benefactors, Carmen and Joseph Unanue of Alpine, benefactors and Charles Flynn, a member of school faculty since 1973.
